Through Sophie's Village of Love book series, my plan is to support young people who have experienced foster care. I will be dedicating a portion of the book profits toward scholarship opportunities for youth as they pursue their education and build their futures.

I never imagined that at 66, I would become a foster mother for the very first time—or that a little girl would inspire me to write my first children's book.But sometimes life's most meaningful chapters begin when we least expect them.When my world fell apart, I decided to return to the community I was raised in to help my sister care for our mother, who was 94 at the time with a completely clear mind but a very frail body.I started to think about "what's next for me when Mom is gone"?With my mother's and sister's encouragement, I decided to revisit a dream of mine from years earlier .... to become a foster mother of newborns.And that is when Sophie came into my life. A beautiful little three day old baby.The love of family and friends surrounding this little girl became the inspiration for Sophie's Village of Love.Today, I'm beginning another new chapter as a children's book author, with a simple hope: to share stories that celebrate love, family, and belonging for kids in foster care—and, through those stories, help create brighter futures for young people who have experienced foster care.Because every child deserves a village of love.
